This is a compilation of my last few assignments. From bottom to top this is painting assignments 6, 7 and 8. It is Dadaism, Futurism and Suprematism. Dadaism ended up more Surrealist, but I tried my best.
The Dadaism piece is a combination of Dadasim typography by Luc Devroye and ‘Woman with Blond Armpit Combing Her Hair By by the Light of the Stars’ by Joan Miro.
The Futurism piece is a combination of Mark Webster’s ‘Dave C 03303’ and an untitled piece by Giacomo Balla.
The Suprematism piece is a combination of Kasimir Malevich’s ‘Suprematism’ and Olga Rozanova’s ‘Color Painting (Non Objective Composition)’.
This is my 3rd painting assignment. The movement this past week was Abstract Expressionism (hence the title). It’s a mix between Jackson Pollock’s ‘Number 14’ and Mark Rothko’s ‘No.5/No.22’.
Ongoing piece here. This is for my painting class. It’s my 3rd assignment.
This was my final project for my design class. It was to create an 8 page book with alternating warm and cool colors. The biggest requirement was to connect the pages with the subject.
This is my other best piece from my design class. My inspiration was a story I had to read in high school; The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins. It’s about a woman who is confined to her room/country home because of a perceived madness and depression. But, the confinement actually makes it worse. She begins to see a woman in the horrible yellow wallpaper in her bedroom. To achieve this effect I overlaid the design with tracing paper.
This is contrast of saturation. It’s a contrast of tones and tints. I explored the color yellow.
This is one of my best pieces from my design class. We had to do 6 different pieces demonstrating different contrast for each one. This one was contrast of extension. It is contrast created by controlling the proportion of one color relative to the other.
These two pieces were a class assignment. The assignment was to choose a subject, simplify it, and showcase it in warm and cold colors. I chose a heart.
